A/Professor Alan Moss is a gastroenterologist with a special interest in safe and effective colonoscopy and removal of polyps. He is an Interventional Endoscopist, and in addition to standard colonoscopy, frequently performs complex colonoscopy procedures for patients referred by other gastroenterologists or surgeons. Alan has been performing endoscopy procedures and consulting at Chesterville Day Hospital since 2011. After completing his medical degree at Monash University, Alan completed physician training at The Alfred Hospital. Following his gastroenterology training, he completed two advanced endoscopy fellowships at Westmead Hospital in Sydney and at St Michael’s Hospital in Toronto, Canada where he trained with world leading endoscopists. Alan also performs advanced endoscopy procedures including ERCP, EUS, RFA and luminal stenting.

Alan has over 50 publications in endoscopy and gastroenterology journals, mostly dealing with improving patient outcomes from colonoscopy and polyp removal. He is internationally recognised as an expert in polyp removal, and has been invited to speak at multiple international endoscopy conferences. He was awarded prestigious international prizes such as the World Endoscopy Organisation Research Award and was recently selected for the World Endoscopy Organisation “Emerging Stars” Program.

Alan is a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Melbourne. He is the Head of Gastroenterology and also the Head of Endoscopic Services at Western Health. Alan is on the Editorial Board of Endoscopy Journal (The European Endoscopy Society journal) and on the International Editorial Board of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Journal (The American Endoscopy Society journal), and is actively involved in ongoing gastroenterology and endoscopy research.

Alan is very happy to see new patients at Chesterville Day Hospital for colonoscopy, gastroscopy or gastroenterology consultation. Alan is focused on high quality, individualised care for each patient as well as timely and clear communication with GPs.
